Abstract

This issue opens with a contribution by Maximilian Fuchs, who provides us with an interesting critical overview of the dynamics of European Labour Law developments, stressing the crucial role in this process of the European Court of Justice and of the social partners. The difficulties which UK courts may face in their day-to-day practice are explored by Lucy Vickers, who analyses the highly topical problem of religious discrimination in the workplace, starting with a discussion on how these issues have been dealt with by the courts in Canada. Simon Deakin then deals with the judicial interpretation and control of employment relations, with a particular focus on atypical contracts.
