Abstract

This edition of Nursing Management is going to print in the days after the announcement of the date of the general election. Commentators suggest that this is the longest awaited and most predictable election of the century. One thing is certain, after the last election we should all expect the predictions and promises to be wrong. The only group with lower credibility than politicians is pollsters. It is interesting how the one lives off the other. It is rather like the relationship between the pilot fish and the whale. The remarkable thing about it is that they both constantly assert then rectitude while the rest of us are reaching for the proverbial snuff-box.
