Abstract

In 2010, the Society's 350th anniversary year, it may seem that Biographical Memoirs is a rather youthful enterprise— it was only established as an independent publication in 1932, not much more than yesterday in the Society's terms. The journal originated from the regular obituaries given as part of the Society's annual Presidential Addresses and these were published from 1830 in Proceedings .
