Abstract

I would like to welcome our readers to significant new features that will appear in Physica Scripta during 2003.Firstly, we are incorporating a comments journal, Comments on Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics into PhysicaScripta. This is a continuation of Comments on Atomic and Molecular Physics, first published by Gordon and Breachand, subsequently, as part of Comments on Modern Physics by Taylor and Francis. Our aim is to make this part of Physica Scripta an up-to-date critical assessment of current trends in these specific research areas allowing furtherareas of physics to be commented upon later.Secondly we will be implementing cross referencing to a large number of other physics journals commencing withthis volume of Physica Scripta thus enabling direct and speedy access to references in other, subscribed to, journals.Alternatively, for a nominal fee, access will be available to specific articles in non-subscribed to journals.Thirdly, current subscribers will have access to the complete Physica Scripta archive from early this year. Finally, the first contributions from Physica Scripta to the virtual journals of the American Physical Society willappear thus substantially increasing the number of prospective readers.
