Abstract

Issues of Soil Use and Management for 2020 and onwards will be published in January, April, July and October. The first issue for 2020 will include articles of two new types: Alan Wild Reviews and Commentary or Opinion pieces. Alan Wild Reviews are invited papers and provide important state-of-the-art assessments of important research areas within the scope of the journal. These reviews are being commissioned by our Review Editor, Professor Leo Condron of Lincoln University in New Zealand. Please contact him if you are interested in contributing. The Commentary or Opinion pieces aim to stimulate discussion of possibilities to make soil research more accessible to non-specialists and policymakers, as well as raising concerns about and identifying new directions for established areas of investigation. Please contact any of the Editors if you have a topic that you wish to explore through this forum. At the end of the year, our Book Review Editor, Professor Keith Smith of Edinburgh University, is retiring. His position is shared between Soil Use and Management and the European Journal of Soil Science. Keith has worked tirelessly to keep readers abreast of the latest books on pure and applied soil science topics. On behalf of all involved with SUM, editors and readers alike, I wish to thank him for his contributions over the last four years. Again, if taking on this voluntary role appeals, please contact any of the Editors of either journal.
