Abstract

Jack, as we all know him, has resigned his position as one ofour Board of Editor Members. Jack in keeping with hisretirement plans, will no longer serve on our board.No one in the Alliance has contributed more to the presentsuccess of Invitational Education than Jack Schmidt. Evenbefore the Alliance was founded in 1982, Jack was makingsignificant contributions to Invitational Theory and Practice(ITP). During his three-year (1980-1986) doctoral program inCounselor Education at the University of North Carolina atGreensboro Jack worked closely with his doctoral committeeadvisor, William Purkey. Jack and his advisor’s lengthydialogues and debates over many months contributedsignificantly to ITP.
