Abstract

EDITORIAL The theme of this issue is provided by papers on the role of ethnog- raphy and fieldwork in the study of religion. Most the articles were first presented during two sessions held at the 1998 meeting of the American Academy of Religion (AAR): "Fieldwork: Bridging anthro- pology and the history of religions," and "Blunders, plunders, and wonders of fieldwork: Ethnographic integrity and the study of South Asian religions".
