Abstract

In our third issue for 2103, we have articles covering Africa, America, Asia, and Europe. The first, by Curseu, explores characteristics of and relations between healthcare groups in Romania. The second, by Friedman et al., analyzes the relation between distance to care and access to surgery in Haiti and asks if problems are worse for specific groups of patients. The third, by Randall and Eamer, examines factors influencing the implementation of WHO's breastfeeding policy for mothers with HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa—in terms of ideas, interests, and institutions. The next two consider issues in fragile and conflict-ridden states. The fourth, by Mark and Jones, considers health capacity development for fragile states, and considering the different case of a conflict-ridden country, the fifth, by Sen and Al-Faisal, looks at challenges facing reform and emerging noncommunicable diseases in Syria.
