Abstract

For 23 years, first at Brown University and more recently at the Oregon Regional Primate Research Center, an interdisciplinary group interested in cutaneous biology has met to discuss varying topics related to the skin. These highly successful symposia, which are led by William Montagna, Ph.D., have been published as bound volumes and more recently as special issues of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. On three occasions, sebaceous glands have been the topic of discussion, and the proceedings of the 22d symposium, dealing with these cutaneous appendages, have just been published.1 The expansion of knowledge related to the sebaceous glands . . .
