A former Fulbright fellow, she received PhD in Higher Education Administration and Evaluation from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 2001. Her areas of research interest are evaluation, professional development, organizational learning, and the ethical aspects of research and evaluation. Among her selected publications are Communities of Practice with Benzie, Mavers, and Somekh (2005); Validity and Evaluations of Teaching in Higher Education Institutions Under Positivistic Paradigm (2005); Strategies for Innovation in Secondary Science Teaching (Estrategias Para la Innovación de la Enseñanza de las Ciencias en Secundaria) with M. T. López and M. Barceló (2007); and Science Teaching in Secondary Schools in the Yucatan: Critical Issues, Challenges and Proposed Solutions (La Enseñanza de las Ciencias en Escuelas Secundarias de Yucatán: Cuestiones Críticas, Retos y Propuestas de Solución) (2007).
