Summary
Fred Kilgour, the founding editor of the Journal of Library Automation (JOLA), ITAL’s original title, died last summer. In planning for the 40th anniversaries of LITA in 2006 and ITAL in 2007, the Editorial Board and I wanted to honor Fred as founding editor. To honor him as founding editor, I have invited a number of authors to submit articles describing their research or their seminal thoughts on our profession.
