Abstract

Ever since the invention of the cesium beam atomic clock in 1955, quantum frequency standards 9have seen considerable development over the decades, as a representative of quantum precision 10 measurement. The progress in frequency measurements achieved in the past allows one to perform 11 measurements of other physical and technical quantities with unprecedented precision, whenever 12 they could be traced back to frequency measurements. We conclude our Editorial with our most sincere thanks to all the authors of the articles published on 65 this Research Topic for their valuable contributions, and the Frontiers in Physics team for their 66 assistance with publishing.
