Abstract

It has been six years since I took over from Dr. David Fogel as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION. Not every editor-in-chief was as fortunate as I was in inheriting such a prestigious and well-run journal. I am very honored to be able to serve the community as the editor-in-chief of its flagship journal. Evolutionary Computation has continued to evolve and grow since 2003. We had approximately 150 submissions to the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION in that year. In 2007, we had more than 450 submissions. The number of pages we publish each year has also increased steadily. In addition to the volume, the quality of our published papers has also been increasing. Not only is our journal the leading publication in the evolutionary computation field, it is also one of the best journals in artificial intelligence, computer theories and methods, and computer science in general, according to journal impact factors. The IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION is a journal run by our community and for our community. It relies on the entire evolutionary computation community to grow and thrive. It relies on the authors, who submit their best work to this Transactions. It relies on the reviewers, who devote their time to review all the submissions. It relies on the associate editors, who tirelessly coordinate the review of all the papers. It also relies on other volunteers from the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and IEEE editorial staff, whose support is vital to the success of our Transactions. I hope all people involved in evolutionary computation will be as proud as I am in our joint effort in creating such a valuable Transactions where we can share our new ideas and knowledge. The IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION is a forum where the best research in evolutionary computation
