Abstract

Welcome to the Academy of Marketing (AM) conference special issue. This year’s edition is brought to you by the marketing academics of the University of Liverpool Management School. The three-day conference took place at the world famous Aintree racecourse in the summer of 2011. For those who could not attend, we are happy to report that, as an annual event, it is positively thriving. If it remains on its current trajectory, all bodes well for the forthcoming AM conferences hosted by Southampton in 2012 and Glamorgan in 2013. This year, almost 500 delegates from more than 35 countries descended upon Liverpool, including many international academics representing institutions from Australia, North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Many up and coming PhD candidates, fresh from presenting at the AM Doctorial Colloquium, also came along for their first taste of conference life.
