Abstract

Our specialty takes pride in attracting the best and brightest medical students into the field. Several times over the past decade, the question of moving to the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) Match has been discussed among the leaders in academic urology, currently the Society of Academic Urologists (SAU). Each time, we have chosen to stay with an early match administered by the American Urological Association (AUA Match). There has been the assumption by most, that the AUA Match is conducted with the same Code of Conduct 1 http://www.nrmp.org/communication-code-of-conduct/ Google Scholar as the NRMP Match, just earlier in the year. However, a urology-specific code of conduct or referral to the NRMP code of conduct is not explicitly clarified by either the SAU or the AUA Match. The SAU leadership is aware of this oversight and is working with the AUA Match to clarify a code of conduct as well as an anonymous reporting system for those who have experienced violations of this code similar to the NRMP. 2 http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Violations-Policy.pdf Google Scholar
