Abstract

Telemedicine represents an increasingly popular tool for healthcare delivery in the United States. In this study by Andino et al, 1 Andino J.J., Guduguntla V., Weizer A., et al. Examining the value of video visits to patients in an outpatient urology clinic. Urology. in press. Google Scholar the predicted value of video visits was obtained by a tertiary care outpatient clinic as part of a telemedicine pilot program. Not surprisingly, the authors found a high level of patient interest in video visits largely based on convenience-related factors, such as improved time efficiency and access to their urologist. This study adds to the existing body of evidence that characterizes the patient perspective in relation to telemedicine, and also provides a useful strategy for practices considering telemedicine implementation.
