Abstract
Robotic surgery is selectively shifting to the outpatient setting. Patient expectations are rightfully more demanding and technology keeps improving. It is upon us, the surgeons to benefit from new technology to enhance our surgeries and keep improving outcomes. The single port (SP) platform has a low-profile single cannula through which all instruments and camera are inserted. This allows for new approaches otherwise challenging using standard bulky robot arms. Indeed, this novel SP platform made this approach possible, but more importantly, how a new system is used makes all the difference.
