Abstract

Tadalafil has been approved for use in erectile dysfunction and in lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Tadalafil has been shown to improve LUTS in a number of placebo-controlled studies published in the past.1 Despite several possible hypotheses regarding the mechanism of action of this molecule on the lower urinary tract (LUT), this issue is far from resolved. One of the mechanisms of action of tadalafil includes relaxation of the LUT vasculature and consequently increasing the blood flow.2 In the past, a cross-sectional population-based study had studied this issue using contrast-enhanced ultrasonography.
