Abstract

Despite only accounting for approximately 17% of soldiers in the United States (US) Army, women play a vital role in its functionality, to include combat arms branches.1 In fact, the first women graduated from Ranger School in 2015, following removal of the restriction of females in combat roles in 2013. The Army recently implemented initial training for the biannual Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) that will replace the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) in late 2020. The APFT is a 3-event test that included push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2 mile run with scores stratified by age and gender.
