Abstract

In this issue of Urology, Lemack et al highlight the factors predicting medical students’ decision making when considering urology. Utilizing AUA Match data from 2015 to 2019, the study identified 1916 students who submitted rank lists for a urology residency position. Factors that were associated with a greater number of urology applicants included medical schools with a urology residency program, shorter preclerkship curriculum, a top 20 Doximity program ranking, and the presence of a urology interest group. The analysis also found that the presence of female urology faculty correlated with a higher number of female urology applicants from that institution.
