Abstract

Any urologist would like an opportunity to improve stone free rates when using SWL, particularly when there is no significantly added cost or morbidity. These authors correlated SF outcomes from 200 patients undergoing SWL using an electromagnetic lithotripter with Hounsfield unit density (HUD), skin-to-stone distance (SSD), and body mass index (BMI). They also assessed the old standards, stone size, and intrarenal location. SF status was measured once at 6 weeks, with the use of only plain abdominal films.
