Abstract

The endocrine state of hypogonadism is well-known to urologists and something that is commonly addressed in outpatient encounters around the world. Testosterone supplementation has exploded over the past decade, likely a combined consequence of direct-to-consumer advertising as well as a deeper understanding of the complex underlying physiology and potential health benefits associated with a eugonadal state. In this study, the authors further push the boundary of our understanding of this complex interplay between sex hormones and tissue health in a way that could stand to benefit genitourinary reconstruction outcomes.
