Abstract

The authors report their initial experience using the DaVinci single port (SP) robot with an explicit emphasis on how single port surgery impacts length of stay (LOS) and same-day discharge (SDD). The rate of SDD was significantly higher with the SP approach (88%) compared to a historical cohort (from 2016 to 2020) of multiport patients (51%) who were likewise offered SDD. Mean pain scores (MPS) within the first 6 hours following surgery were lower in the SP cohort compared to the MP cohort (3.7 vs 4.5, P < .05).
