Abstract

The authors demonstrated that L-RPLND with a nerve-sparing technique is feasible in five carefully selected patients with minimal retroperitoneal disease. They noted that antegrade ejaculation was preserved in all 5 patients, no intraoperative complications occurred, the mean operative time was 3.2 hours, and the mean hospital stay was 3.7 days. This report adds to the growing literature that shows that after a long and steep learning curve, perioperative morbidity, operative blood loss, and length of hospital stay are reduced compared with those of open surgery in the hands of dedicated experts. 1 Janetschek G.
