Abstract

The authors utilize the surveillance epidemiology and end results (SEER) data base, which covers approximately 35% of the US population, between 2007-2015 to analyze 8421 patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). They calculate 5-year cause specific survival using co-variates of race, age, sex, insurance, marital status, and tumor stage at diagnosis. Cause specific survival in this setting is defined as survival specifically from ccRCC, 1 of at least 31 types of renal cortical tumors with distinct genomic, metabolic, and histopathological features.
