Abstract
While urologists are often considered “male gynecologists” the reality is that urologists are responsible for the care and treatment of genitourinary issues in both men and women. In the US, women compromise 30% of the patient encounters in an urologist's office and over a third of urologists self-report that they perform Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery procedures.1 As a result, an understanding of gynecological screening guidelines and the signs and symptoms of gynecological malignancies should be an essential component of the core curriculum in urological residencies and fellowships.
