Abstract

Despite the increased availability of shock wave lithotriptors and holmium lasers, percutaneous renal surgery remains a necessary tool for the successful management of large renal calculi. Although confidence in performing this procedure has grown significantly since the late 1970s, bleeding and, more specifically, hemorrhage requiring angiographic intervention, remain feared complications.
