Abstract
Although maintenance of renal function in patients with spina bifida (SB) is listed as a urologic priority, up to 15% of SB, patients will develop end-stage renal disease (ESRD) by the third decade of life.1 In this regard, the timely diagnosis and early treatment of stage 3 chronic renal failure (CRF; GFR 30-59 mL/min/BSA) becomes a mandatory diagnostic component to improve patient outcomes.2
