Abstract

It has been 3 years since I assumed the editorship of the Journal of Financial Econometrics. The journal does not have fixed terms for editors, and indeed the founding editors, René Garcia and Eric Renault edited the journal for 13 years. The outstanding reputation the journal enjoys today was forged by their long and sustained leadership. I have always been in favor of fixed-term editorships, in particular in light of the fact that in the meantime the journal became the flagship publication of SoFiE. Society journals typically operate with fixed terms, so that the editorial leadership can be shared among its members. I therefore set myself a 3-year term when I signed on. An editor can only function with the help of co-editors, associate editors, and competent referees. I have been fortunate to work with outstanding co-editors, Torben Andersen, Federico Bandi, Andrew Patton, and George Tauchen and with an equally outstanding board of associate editors. It has been a pleasure to work with all of them during my term and I am grateful for their devotion to the journal's editorial process. Moreover, the editorial staff of Oxford University Press has been outstanding. In particular, I would like to thank Sarah King for her devotion to the journal. Last but certainly not least, Martin Green, who manages the journal on behalf of OUP, has been a constant support throughout the entire history of JFEC. It was a real pleasure to work with him as well.
