Editor's Note This issue, guest-edited by Laura Hodges and devoted to arms and arming in medieval Arthurian texts, reminds us ofthe gulfbetween ourselves and the past. Especially in these matters of ceremony and technology, we confront the otherness of medieval experience: we recognize that our expectations of similitude often seduce us into misreading medieval texts. arthuriana itself has moved into new technological worlds since we are now available, to subscribers who choose this option, online through the World Wide Web. Years ago, your editor was guided—the 'heme' ofthe eagle in Chaucer's HousofFameis a more accurateverb, actually, since I was grabbed, shoved, and pushed—into the spirit world of technology through the good and insistent graces ofDeborah Everhart, who served for the past two years as Assistant Editor ofthejournal and as founding moderator-filter ofArthurnet. That demanding role is now assumed byJudy Shoaf, who tells us here in The Round Table about herselfand Arthurnet. We are very grateful both to Deb and to Judy.
