Abstract

Editing methods in digital video streams can be classified based on their complexity and memory/performance constraints. Video editing in DVD recorders today is GOP accurate. However with the advent of the high definition recorders and HDTVs, the frames present / absent in GOP accurate editing become easily identifiable. This paper discusses the available editing methods, with special emphasis on frame accuracy achieved via a very convenient and computationally undemanding way, on high definition MPEG-2 transport streams.
