Abstract
Is it possible that there is an antidote to precocity, the blight that saps human genious at an early age and leaves more questions than answers? That would Edie Turner. Is it possible that there could be a solution to gender, rather than a mere consummation or compromise? That would be Edie plus or minus Vic. More or less like anthropology itself, Edie started her career after the demise of other options, became sure of herself when most of us are not even sure about “sure.” That would be a liminal event, would it not?, and possibly the only real way to define liminality.
