Abstract

This five day course, held annually, is designed for anyone involved in teaching medical students, postgraduate trainees, or other healthcare professionals. It attracts clinicians at all levels, from foundation doctors to consultants. We are both fellows in medical education and took this course near the beginning of our respective fellowships (August 2009 and August 2010). The dates of the course coincide with the array of festivals held in Edinburgh throughout August, which is an added bonus for course participants. Bedside teaching, workplace based assessment, and educational supervision are part of the daily work of many doctors.
