Abstract

Edible landscaping is the practical integration of food producing plants within an ornamental or decorative setting. Using of edibles (trees, berry bushes, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers) in landscape design can enhance a garden b y providing a unique ornamental component with additional health, aesthetic and economic benefits. These landscapes are created with consideration fo r the aesthetic value of edible plants, in addition t o their food producing benefits. Thus, integration of vegetables in the landscape of private property cou ld represent a source of healthy fresh food that assures a part of people's diet but at the same tim e growing varieties with unusual colors or shapes could add aesthetic value to the yard.
