Abstract

This paper presents an analytical solution that enables the determination of the impedance of a sensor with a pot-core type E placed over a conductive disc of any diameter and thickness. Analytical expressions obtained using the truncated region eigenfunction expansion (TREE) method have been presented in a closed form, thus they can be implemented in any programming language. The results of the calculations and measurements for different discs were compared with each other, and a very good agreement was observed. Moreover, it has been shown that the employment of the pot-core significantly increased the sensitivity of the sensor in comparison with the I-core and with the air-core.
