Abstract
Experiments were conducted by eddy current testing of weld zone using a newly developed probe with minimal lift-off-noise. The results have shown that the probe can detect both longitudinal and transversal flaws at the surface in weld zones at reasonable signal to noise ratio when the direction of the probe is properly arranged to the weld. Thus eddy current testing using the new probe is a promising method of non-destructive surface testing of weld zones, replacing magnetic particle testing which is time and cost consuming.
