Abstract

Ectopic adrenal cortex is a rare entity most commonly detected incidentally at the time of surgery [1]. It is typically identified near the kidney but can be present anywhere along the genitourinary tract. This occurs owing to the deposition of adrenal tissue along the path from the gonads to the adrenal glands during embryogenesis [2]. This ectopic tissue is found along the path of embryologic migration in 50% of the newborns and typically atrophies over the first few years of life. It is found in 1% of the adults, most commonly men.
