Abstract
The case studies presented confirm that the use of HRTs for thickening and washing of gold plant tailings is, in many cases, economically justified and offers several benefits in economic and operating terms. Each site presents its own parameters in terms of capital costs, recovery costs, water availability and potential savings. Therefore, a feasibility study, based on bench-scale testwork, is advisable for each case.
