Abstract

A description of an analytical approach for construction the long-run incremental cost function for Illinois Basin coal reserves is discussed. Descriptions of the Illinois basin and basic physical data are presented, along with the results and implications of the analysis. The authors point out that coal-resource estimates, as they are now made, will not give warning of future supply difficulties.
