Abstract

A simplified method is presented for the analysis of framed-tube structures when subjected to bending due to lateral loading, which proves to be very economical with large structures. The method consists in replacing the three-dimensional tube by an equivalent two-dimensional system. Several additional simplifications are outlined and their influence on the accuracy of the results is demonstrated.
