Abstract

The economic performance experiments were conducted on a CRDI engine fuelled with pistache seed biodiesel. The results showed that, the brake specific fuel consumption(BSFC) and brake thermal efficiency(BTE) increased while the brake specific energy consumption(BSEC) decreased with the increase in the amount of biodiesel in the fuel mixture in low load; The peak value of cylinder pressure and cylinder pressure rate increases, the amount of premixed combustion were greatly increased while the diffusion combustion amount decreased, the start crank angle was closer to TDC. In high load conditions, with the proportion of biodiesel increasing, BSFC increased, BTE increased and then decreased while BSEC decreased. The peak value of cylinder pressure increased, the proportion of premixed combustion increased slightly. What is worth mentioning, the BSEC was in accordance with diesel when the pure biodiesel was fuelled.
