Abstract

This issue's special focus looks at Germany, the world's second largest producer of liquid pumps. First we have an assessment from the Pumps Association of the VDMA - Germany's machinery and plant manufacturing association - of the economic situation for the country's 180 or so pump manufacturers. This is followed by a series of product updates from some of Germany's leading pump manufacturers, covering innovations for the chemical industry, and the oil and gas sector, and opportunities for improving the energy efficiency and life-cycle costs of pumps through the adoption of novel motors. We conclude with two case studies concerning the handling of waste water and food products.
