Abstract

AbstractThis chapter applies the general theories on the creation, elimination and minimization of environmental damage (i.e., behavioural theory, as well as growth and system theory), as developed in environmental and welfare economics, to the field of tourism. Economic policy instruments are derived from each of the above-mentioned theories and briefly explained. The main emphasis is on the market functioning of environmental economic instruments.
