Abstract

I NVESTORS and airlines might well be looked upon as partners, mutually benefiting from the development of air transport. The confidence and participation of investors is important to the industry, because it greatly assists continued expansion. In turn this expansion can be profitable for investors, as the record of recent years clearly shows. Both airlines and investors have much to gain in the years ahead. The International Air Transport Association has naturally much at heart the future of air transport, particularly internationally. The interests of IATA's 101 member airlines are closely linked to those of the industry as a whole, since they carry about 90% of the world's scheduled international and domestic traffic. Stability in the industry is vital and IATA has done much to bring this about.
