Economic Geography in the U.S.S.R.

Abstract

A MONG the geographical sciences whose history dates back to early times, is one of the youngest. Although the term economic geography was applied in Russia as long ago as 1763 (by M. V. Lomonosov, when planning his future work), it was subsequently in oblivion for a long time. The term geography then reappeared in Russia only after it became current in Western European science in the 1880's. However, activities in the field of have been carried on continuously since the eighteenth century.
