Abstract

Regional economic integration is an important way to meld into the world economy and it is a necessary period of economic development. East Asia is the region with world’s largest population and fastest economic growth but regional economic cooperation has been very weak. Contradictions have not been properly solved in the region because of a mixture of external and internal forces, some historical and some continuing. Up to now there have been obstacles and a latent crisis on the road to development of regional economic cooperation in East Asia. Thus, the governments of East Asian countries and ordinary individuals need to actively adopt a more positive attitude to regional cooperation and create better conditions to ensure the realization and smooth development of regional economic cooperation.
