Abstract

The article deals with the development of economic cooperation between Krasnoyarsk Krai (Territory) and the regions of China in the first decade of the XXI century. The relevance of the study is in the need to draw on the historical experience of Russia-China relations for the successful development of economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China at the present stage. Currently, China is a priority strategic partner for Russia and a key focus of its foreign policy. Problems of interregional cooperation are in the focus of the study. Krasnoyarsk Krai has been cooperating most closely in economic sphere with three provinces of Northeast China, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, developing cooperation with southern regions of China. At the beginning of the 21st century, Russia's regions developed international cooperation, building on the experience of the previous decade, but in a new historical context. The authors, for the first time ever, introduce the records that they discovered at the Krasnoyarsk Krai State Archive. These documents show the mutual interest of Russian and Chinese regions in developing cooperation in different sectors of the economy and reflect the problems that hampered the development of economic cooperation, the case of Krasnoyarsk Krai in the first decade of the XXI century.
