Abstract

Green energy sources are pollution-free energy sources, and their use has increased. Sizing is a fundamental requirement of hybrid energy systems (HES) since renewable energy sources are intermittent. This study represents an optimal sizing for grid connected and off-grid wind-photo Voltaic (PV) hybrid energy system. Differential evolutionary (DE) algorithm is implemented for optimization of HES for minimization of cost of energy(COE). It has been noticed that the result of an on-grid connected system is more economical and reliable as compared to off-grid energy system. A brief comparison has been carried out between traditional solver (TS) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) with the DE algorithm. Moreover, it is also observed from the results that the DE algorithm comes up with better outcomes as compared to TS and PSO. Seasonal effects are also included in this study.
