Economic Assessment of a Wood Fast Pyrolysis Plant

Abstract

Zeton Inc. recently completed the scale-up and detailed engineering for a Fast Pyrolysis Plant processing wood at a capacity of 25 tonne/day. An estimate of the capital costs for the plant was also completed and used as a basis for determining the production costs for the plant. The production costs were estimated for a number of sensitivity cases covering feedstock costs, product yield and energy content, wood comminution and drying costs, capital cost variation and plant capacity. This paper summarizes the results of these capital and production cost estimates.
