Abstract

The obvious and widely discussed rise in food prices raises the need to find answers to numerous questions: about the nature and sources of inflation in this sector of the economy; forms of its manifestation for various subjects of market relations; a system of indicators that adequately reflect the essence of inflation processes and socio-economic consequences for the country’s population. The article makes an attempt to assess the modern information base for an objective and comprehensive description of the level and dynamics of inflation, the degree of its influence on achieving the target indicators of the Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation.
